Joy Through Movement

T’ai Chi Chih (TCC) was originated by Justin Stone in 1974 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Consisting of 19 movements and 1 pose, TCC generates, circulates and balances the Vital Force or Chi helping to improve health, creativity, performance and intuition. T’ai Chi Chih means “Knowledge of the Supreme Ultimate”. It is not a martial art and is completely nonviolent. Young and old alike find it easy to learn and practice. TCC has spread throughout the world by those who have experienced its great benefits. It is a moving discipline that brings peace and serenity to those who practice regularly.

Nothing is more important than knowing how to circulate and balance the Intrinsic Energy, the Vital Force of the body, known as Chi in Chinese… The rewards in good health, wisdom, serenity, and longevity are great for the one who learns the ancient principles and applies them in a modern way.

Our Mission

The T’ai Chi Chih Association promotes T’ai Chi Chih practice and sustains Justin Stone’s vision and legacy. It does this primarily through the operation of the T’ai Chi Chih Center and the publication of its monthly newsletter, the TCC News. The Association promotes T’ai Chi Chih at health fairs and other related events. If you would like to know more, please contact us!

The T’ai Chi Chih Association supports the TCC Center in order to provide a space for accredited teachers to hold classes, and by sponsoring T’ai Chi Chih related events and seminars such as advanced classes, teacher accreditations, an annual Open House, and open practices for those that know the movements. The Center offers opportunities to read and view Justin Stone’s collection of interviews, books, poems, and paintings which are showcased at the Center.

Our community has something for everyone

We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities, from all parts of the world, to visit the Center, learn and practice T’ai Chi Chih movements, and to have access to the many teachings of TCC’s originator, Justin Stone. The T’ai Chi Chih Association, along with Center volunteers and members, work collaboratively to cultivate and expand T’ai Chi Chih practice throughout the world for the benefit of humanity.

Upcoming Events

Invite us to your event!

Beyond offering TCC classes to the diverse demographic communities of New Mexico, the Association participates in a variety of health fairs, Conferences on Aging, and other health and well-being conferences or retreats throughout the state.

We do this with the intention of introducing T’ai Chi Chih movements to a larger audience of people who want to learn about this evidence-based, gentle, healthy, and healing moving meditation. Many students who come to T’ai Chi Chih events find the gentle movements help with flexibility and balance, and provide a centering, or meditative practice that generates a sense of well-being.
